Magic Capital Walk Of Fame

Well, we can't believe how this project has drawn so much attention! Colon's new Walk Of Fame is proceeding nicely and here is the prototype for the 16" x 16" plaque - it could have YOUR name on it with some additional information. These are absolutely gorgeous to look at and can you imagine all of these stars glistening in the sunshine? Your name forever associated with the Magic Capital of The World!

Formal soliciting won't begin until next month...cost for the plaque installed is only $1275.00 - thanks to Farrand's Flat Work for stepping up to the plate to make this a reality! Stay tuned.......

Colon has become known as the Magic Capital of the World.

Now there’s a chance it could get even more famous if there could be a Walk of Fame to honor magicians.
Rick Fisher, chairman of the Colon Downtown Development Authority, shared the idea of a “Magic Walk of Fame” Tuesday with the Village Council. He said it would be like a touch of Hollywood in downtown Colon.“Imagine what it could mean to our village if David Copperfield had a star in our downtown Walk of Fame,” Fisher said Tuesday. “All I’m asking today is your permission to explore the idea and find out what it might cost.”

The idea intrigued council members, who unanimously told Fisher to go ahead and pursue it.
Fisher, a magician who owns FAB Magic, told the Journal it was Annette Thornton who came up with the idea for a Walk of Fame.Annette and her husband, Carl, own Five Star Pizza in Colon.

“I’ve seen the Walk of Fame in Hollywood and the one in Lansing,” she said. “I think this would be so great if we could get something started this year. This year is the 75th anniversary of the Abbott Magic Get-Together. We’d like to get the word out to the magicians.”

The Michigan Walk of Fame is located in Lansing's downtown retail corridor at Washington Square, just east of the state Capitol building. It was styled after the Hollywood Walk of Fame to honor Michigan residents, past or present, who have made significant contributions to the state or nation. The first inductees were honored  during Michigan Week in 2006.

Fisher said he is busy doing his research on the idea.
“So far, it’s not as bad as I thought it would be,” he said about the cost. “Markers can cost $750 or $1150 and then there’s the cost of placing them in the sidewalk.”Fisher said he has found a company in Lansing that makes the stars.Fisher said a magicians’ Walk of Fame could be a boost for tourism in Colon.“It’s a lifetime thing to have one,” he said.

Where Does The Madness Stop?

Where does it stop? Magic dealers are sprouting up like dandelion weeds on the internet. 5,000 - 6,000 - 8,000 - 10,000 Items ADVERTISED AS 'IN STOCK'  - Yet when you order from them it's only in stock at one of the wholesalers. They may or may not have it - who knows what to believe? If you have a computer you can be an instant magic dealer. No phone number - just an email.

Here at FAB Magic Mfg. we have instituted our *Asterick* policy - What does this mean for YOU?
If you see an * by the product it is NOT an item we stock 'in house' and has to be ordered. We stock nearly 5,000 items in our massive showroom / retail store and unfortunately cannot stock everything in magic - sorry nobody does - just the wholesale companies - but we only feel it fair to let you, the customer know if it is here in Colon ready for immediate shipment. This is OUR PROMISEt to YOU so you know where your order stands before you place it with us.  And yes, we even have a telephone number - we are here 6 days a week to serve you. Telephone #269-432-4017. Thank you for your continued support!
